Airflow Case
Man in his 30s. Came in wanting, “I’m concerned about staining from cigarette tar and coffee” and “I’d like the backs of my teeth cleaned properly too.” Was troubled by stubborn staining that daily brushing and regular cleaning couldn’t fully remove.
CASE 14
Airflow
BEFORE
AFTER
- Treatment Details
- Carried out tooth-surface cleaning with “Airflow,” which sprays a fine, dedicated powder together with water and air. Rather than scraping the surface with a metal instrument, the powder blows stains away without force, so it doesn't damage the teeth or gums. Removed not only the staining stuck to the back of the teeth and in the gaps, but also biofilm (a layer of bacteria) that causes tooth decay and periodontal disease, restoring the tooth's natural whiteness and a smooth surface.
- Treatment Period / Sessions
- Period: 1 day Number of visits: 1 (about 30 to 60 minutes) *As regular maintenance, a visit once every few months is recommended.
- Cost
- About ¥3,300 to ¥11,000 per session
- Risks & Side Effects
- Because the powder is sprayed with some force, those with sensitive teeth or gum inflammation may feel a temporary prickling stimulus or a stinging sensation. Also, right after the treatment, the protective film on the tooth surface (the pellicle) comes off, making the teeth more prone to staining, so for 2 to 3 hours after treatment, strongly coloured food and drink (coffee, tea, curry, red wine, etc.) and smoking need to be avoided.
